The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in a spike in these areas far greater than could have been be imagined, and we experienced increased activity in all of these areas.
Cyber criminals continue to sell stolen data on the dark web - although the significant focus shift from zero day exploits to acquisition of high-risk vulnerabilities by bounty programs continued.
2019 and 2020 were the years of IT double standards, with corporations touting themselves as both spammers and spam solutions, and businesses such as social networking sites choosing to misuse personal data and apologise if caught rather than comply with the law.
The impact of the pandemic in 2020, 2021 and on into 2022 changed the way we we work forever, with remote working, video meetings and shared productivity tools becoming the new norm and so creating new attack vectors. Countries grappling with C-19 and their need to collect a huge amount of personal data to train neural networks pushed the boundaries of data collection and privacy controls.
During 2022, significant efforts were made to maintain stability of our democratic institutions and financial systems due to European conflict, and precedents were set for legislative change, and this need to protect interests will continue throughout 2023.
As well as the above, the driving corporate need to innovate and keep pace or become obsolete, coupled with an ever changing technology landscape and the maturing of cloud hybrid infrastructure as well as the evolution of artificial neural networks, AI, machine learning and cryptocurrencies has never been more evident.
